Micky is our 4 year old gelding imported into New Zealand in 2003.

He was only 10 months old when arrived in Auckland NZ and then made the long road trip to Christchurch.

Micky was your typical ugly duckling as a Friesian baby, but as is the way with Friesians, they grow into beautiful horses eventually. Micky bears no resemblance to the gangly colt that arrived at Ridgellea three years ago.

Trained in harness and under saddle he is a very easy boy to enjoy out and about or just riding around home.

Micky has been shown numerous times and received various prizes, but the most exciting outing had him bringing home the Champion Sporthorse sash on his very first in-hand show.

In May 2006 he was presented before the Dutch inspectors and was entered into the Friesian Studbook

 

He truly is a remarkable Boy and a very special part of the Ridgllea Friesian Stud family.

Micky has been furthering his education in the 2007-08 season with a little jumping and dressage, as well as pairing up with paddock mate Feijke in the wagon and doing the odd social drive outings with our harness club.

  

 

   
         
   
         
   

 

Tjeerd

Tjeerd has been retained by Ridgellea Friesian Stud.

Tjeerd has had a few outings into the show ring, taken everything in his stride, and shown himself of beautifully. He has beautiful paces and movement and an outstanding temperament to work and play. Tjeerd is developing into a beautiful, graceful young colt; he is working wonderfully in the long reins and will make a stunning sight under saddle or driven in gig in time to come.
